What are intra-workout carbohydrates?

Intra workout carbohydrates are carbohydrate products used as part of a nutrition plan around training, commonly in a drinkable format.

They are different from a pre-workout stimulant, protein powder or electrolyte only product. Their primary nutritional role is to provide carbohydrate.

Within the Supplement Needs range, Intra Carb+ is specifically formulated around the peri-workout period and is intended to be mixed with water and sipped before and during training. Each serving supplies 25.3g carbohydrate, of which 25g comes from Cluster Dextrin®.

Not every workout requires additional carbohydrate. The decision should account for the duration and demands of the session, previous food intake and the wider daily nutrition plan.

What is Cluster Dextrin®?

Cluster Dextrin® is the branded cyclic dextrin carbohydrate used as the principal carbohydrate ingredient in Intra Carb+.

Each 30.8g serving:

  • Cluster Dextrin® cyclic dextrin 25,000mg
  • HydroPrime® glycerol powder 2,500mg
  • D-Ribose 2,500mg
  • Dipotassium Phosphate 500mg
  • of which Potassium 225mg
  • of which Phosphorus 89mg
  • Total carbohydrate 25.3g
  • Energy 100 kcal

The current formula is unflavoured and provides 30 servings in a 924g tub.

Why choose Intra Carb+?

25g Cluster Dextrin® per serving

Each serving supplies a clearly disclosed 25g Cluster Dextrin® rather than hiding the carbohydrate source inside a proprietary blend.

Unflavoured format

Intra Carb+ is intentionally unflavoured, making it easier to combine with a flavoured amino-acid or electrolyte product without creating an additional competing flavour. Perfect forstacking with Intra EAA+ and Electrolyte+.

Flexible peri-workout use

The current directions specify mixing one 30.8g serving with approximately 500–700ml water and sipping it before and during training.

Vegan, vegetarian and Halal

Intra Carb+ formula is suitable for vegans and vegetarians and Halal certified.

Not necessarily.

Consider:

  • intensity
  • previous meal timing
  • total daily carbohydrate intake
  • tolerance when training
  • whether food or a drink is more practical
  • the wider performance goal

Use intra-workout carbohydrates when carbohydrate intake around training is deliberately part of your nutrition plan.

The current directions position Intra Carb+ for the peri-workout period, with one serving mixed into 500–700ml water and consumed before and during training.
