The laboratory utilises chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA) for the coeliac profile blood spot test. Chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA) is a highly sensitive analytical technique used to detect and quantify specific molecules, such as proteins, peptides, hormones, and antibodies, in biological samples. In CLIA, the target molecule acts as an antigen, which binds to a specific antibody that is conjugated with a chemiluminescent label. When the antibody-antigen complex forms, it triggers a chemical reaction that produces light emission. This light emission is measured using a luminometer, and its intensity is directly proportional to the concentration of the target molecule in the sample.
